Watching you grow into a beautiful young woman, right before my very eyes, has been such a honor.
Lately you have been so thoughtful, considerate, and even tempered.
You tried out for basketball. Even though you didn't want to. You did it without complaint.
All because we asked you to.
You did tell me that maybe you shouldn't go out for the team because if you made the team maybe, just maybe, you would be taking someone else's place that really had a passion for the game.
"You wouldn't want to take away another girl's passion, would you Mom?" You asked with a grin on your face.
A grin that I only see when you think you have won.
A grin that practically screams NEENER, NEENER, NEEEEENNNNEEERRRRR!
But given the fact that you're nearly 15, I had to take this opportunity for a teaching moment.
So with the straightest face i could muster, I replied "Dear, I am not taking away any girls' passion and she better not get that passion taken away from her by anyone else. And don't let me catch you letting anyone mess with your passion."
You may or may not have needed to pick her jaw up off of the floor of the van so you could get out and make your way towards practice. I am sure that while you were on your way into practice you were thinking "Wow my mom sure is crazy cool"
See just a few weeks ago, I could expect loud outbursts relating to how there is something wrong with me. Or pouting about having to go to basketball. You would have totally stonewalled the bribery encouragement it took you to make your way there.
You did it, head hung eye, trying your best, and I think, even though you will probably never admit this, slightly enjoying it.
So while I might not be buying you both those knitted clogs AND the non edible chocolate fuzzy boots, know that I love you and think you are a pretty awesome chick, who I am happy to be getting know more and more each day.

Awwwwwwe, how sweet! Who knows, maybe this will turn into a passion for her. The best way to find out is to try.
That was heartfelt. I love it. Parenting teens is a world apart, and you seem to be mastering it with skill.
That is so sweet. Teen girls can be so fun and such a pain at the same time. :)
Beautiful and very sweet. She's very pretty!
Isn't it awesome watching your kid mature and turn into honest to goodness, real live almost-adults?!
I love it.
