La, La, La....Linoleum!

When Giggles was about 14 months old she was obsessed with Sesame Street. And not just any Sesame Street, Old School Sesame Street, which secretly made my heart smile.

Hubs was in the Navy at the time and he was stationed in San Diego for school while we were still in Orlando....FLORIDA. In a time before Skpe & Google Chat and well, webcams that the average person could afford, meant we didn't see hubs for about 4 months.

Have you ever been confined in a place in which most of your friends transferred somewhere else and you were there, in a house, with a limited budget, and your uber intelligent 14 month old? Its about as fun as it sounds.

So to pass the time we watched videos. Giggles would often demand gently request to watch The Sesame Street 25th Anniversary Spectacular Video. And since I was a closet fan of Old School Sesame Street-I gladly met her request by pushing play each time the video ended and had a chance to rewind daily.

It should also be mentioned that at this particular time, being young and naive. The Toyota dealer was kind enough to let us purchase a 1995 Toyota Tercel 4 speed off his lot, that did not include a radio.

That's right....no radio. Let me tell you those trips to the base were uber fun. Giggles asked a lot of questions that made me a bit crazy so proud to be her mama.

When I wasn't be interrogated by the 14 month old, I was singing for her. Because even though your 14 month old has a great vocabulary and can blow people away with her conversational skillz, she was still a 14 month old that wanted her way. And when said way wasn't met, she let out an ear piercing shriek that would get anyone to tell you all their deepest darkest secrets just to SHUT.HER.UP.

So when she requested "The Linoleum Song" I happily sang and narrated the E.N.T.I.R.E. song.

It was stuck in my head for years. And every now and again I just blurt out "La, La, La, La....LINOLEUM!" To which I get strange looks and pats on the head for. But you watch the video and try not to tell me that it isn't catchy and wouldn't get stuck in your head as well.

And if you've made it all the way down here I would like to reward you with one last thing....my weekly picks for the BFL!

I have always la, la, la, la, loved that song! And Sesame Street! My kids grew up waaayyyy too fast...when DS was 6 months old, I got up at 7am one morning to watch the first airing of SS for the day WITHOUT HIM so I could find out if Maria and Luis had a boy or a girl - giggle!
Wait...did I say all that OUT LOUD?

Old school Sesame Street is still the best.

My favorite was always Super Grover.

I love old school Sesame Street too. The new is just too loud, in your face, and some of the characters are just plain annoying and whiny. That song is a good one and makes me smile everytime I hear it.

I lament the fact that we didn't have a set of rabbit ears strong enough to pick up Sesame Street for the kids when they were the age to watch it. I am out of the loop about the Old School thing. Are you saying that they changed my SS? Is nothing sacred?!

At least you have some sense! I see that Greis picked AGAINST the Colts this week. (I'm scowling at her through my monitor).

You know what song has wormed its way into mine and my wife's head? Elmo's duck song (just go to YouTube and search for Elmo Ducks). When we have a great day with Tyler, I let him watch a couple Elmo videos. He LOVES the duck video and the one where Elmo hangs with the New York Jets.

I haven't had the pleasure of hearing that song. And if you don't mind I'm not going to click on the link because I've got too many others in my head :)
